One out of ten residents of the metropolitan Washington DC region is food insecure. Nearly one third are children.
The COVID-19 emergency is creating additional challenges for neighbors experiencing food insecurity across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Our support is needed now more than ever to provide food to children, families, and individuals who need help, and the Capital Area Food Bank is on the front lines during these uncertain times.
FIA is hosting a digital food drive - collecting financial donations that can be used by the Capital Area Food Bank to buy the food our neighbors need most, including fruits, vegetables, and perishable items like meat and dairy. The Capital Area Food Bank is able to turn every dollar donated into 2.5 meals, which helps us provide a lot more healthy food than most people could collect on their own. It’s a fantastic and modern way to support our neighbors and make a difference.
