The Shepherd Park Citizens Association (SPCA) is proud to sponsor a community-wide fundraiser to support the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB).  The COVID-19 outbreak has caused the number of people facing food insecurity to skyrocket and sharply decreased the food contributions CAFB receives from institutional donors. Our community is doing all we can we help the CAFB have access to healthy and nutritious food.  That's why we are have set a goal of $5,000!!

Sponsors Morris Miller Wine & Spirit, Ledo Pizza, Shepherd Park Christian Church, Brenda Meija at Compass, Ohev Sholom – The National Synagogue, and the SPCA will match just over a $1,000 contributed by the community!

CAFB provides food to nearly 400,000 children and families who face hunger in our region through partners like Ward 4’s Coolidge High School, Emory Beacon of Light, and the Tutoring Cafe.  As school and workplace closures make access to enough nutritious food even more challenging, these children and working families need our help more than ever.

We chose CAFB for this effort not only because they are the largest provider of food to people in the DMV, but because of their 4 out of 4 Star rating and their 97 out of 100 score for financial accountability and transparency with Charity Navigator .  We are confident that your contribution to CAFB will be used efficiently to help the community and that you will be able to track their activities through public financial reports.

Please join us in donating to the CAFB!  Your donations will support the purchase, packaging, and distribution of food boxes for children and families in the DC-Metro Area.  Check out to see more about how they are responding to COVID-19.
